Organic Certification (annual fee)

Regular price $ 1,850.00

In order to display the USDA Organic Certification Logo and/or the Oregon Tilth Organic Certification Logo (see 'image 2' on the left) on your products, YouBar must submit the appropriate documentation for your custom formulas to Oregon Tilth, the professional certifying body that has certified YouBar as an Organic Food Manufacturer.

The cost to use Oregon Tilth to allow you to use the USDA logo and/or the Oregon Tilth Certified Organic logo on your custom bar packages (boxes, wrappers, website, etc) is $1,850 per SKU (flavor), inclusive of all of YouBar’s QA document submission work.

There are three types of Organic Certification that are available, and the right one for you will depend on your product’s ingredients. They all cost the same amount of money.

These are the three types:

“Organic”  (Most popular!)

Benefits and Requirements: Must contain at least 95% organic ingredients, excluding water and salt. This allows you to use the USDA Organic Certified Logo (see image to the left) and/or the Oregon Tilth Certified Organic Logo.
Please note that the following requirements must also be achieved:

  • Must not contain added sulfites.

  • May contain up to 5% total of: Non-organically produced agricultural ingredients which are listed on 205.606 AND not commercially available in organic form; Other substances allowed by 7 CFR 205.605; Non-organic substances must not be produced using Ionizing irradiation, sewage sludge, excluded methods.

  • Any agricultural processing aids used must be organic or specifically listed on 205.606 and not commercially available.

  • Cannot contain organic and non-organic forms of the same ingredient.

“Made with Organic Ingredients”

Benefits and Requirements: Must contain at least 70% organic ingredients, excluding water and salt. This allows you to use the Oregon Tilth Certified Organic Logo, but NOT the USDA Organic Logo.

Please note that the following requirements must also be achieved:

  • Must not contain added sulfites

  • May contain up to 30% total of: Non-organically produced agricultural ingredients without being limited to those on 7 CFR 205.606; Other substances allowed by 7 CFR 205.605; Non-organic substances must not be produced using Ionizing irradiation, sewage sludge, and excluded methods.

  • May contain organic and non-organic forms of the same ingredient

“100 Percent Organic”

Requirements: Must contain 100% organically produced ingredients, excluding water and salt (all processing aids used must be organic). This allows you to use the USDA Organic Certified Logo (see image to the left) and/or the Oregon Tilth Certified Organic Logo, and it also allows you to put the phrase “100 percent organic” on your packages.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: This package is only available to clients who have worked with YouBar’s R&D team to create a bar utilizing organic ingredients that meet the percentage requirements that are outlined above. It is not possible for YouBar's clients to obtain certification from any of the USDA's named regulatory bodies (ie; Oregon Tilth, etc)  directly due to the extensive hands-on compliance work required by the product manufacturer to ensure actual and ongoing compliance with this certification. If your product does not currently meet these requirements, but you would like them to, then please get in touch with YouBar’s development team (email Emily at emily@youbars.com) in order to engage recipe reformulation prior to submitting a request for Organic Certification.

Timeline: All of the above certifications typically take around 2 months from the date they are engaged until they are cleared by the certifying body, but there are instances when this can take longer (up to 3-4 months). Once the work has been submitted, there is no way of getting a refund for this.
