Two regular You Bar customers asked co-founder Anthony Flynn if he could make customized cookies. As always, Anthony enthusiastically told his mom Ava, the other You Bar co-founder, about the requests. The idea of customizable cookies struck a deep chord with Ava. Her mother, Mae Bise, had prided herself in never following a recipe exactly. During the intense You Cookie development months that followed, it became clear that it had been Mae's 'always-change-a-recipe' attitude that had inspired Ava and Anthony, and led to the original You Bar concept of customization. Ava remembered when her mom once forgot the flour in a chocolate cake recipe (probably rushing since she disliked chocolate). The family found the result delicious. In a moment of inspiration the following year, Ava entered Mae's 'brownie recipe' into the baking contest at her high school-and won first prize! Looking back, that blue ribbon was Ava's first recognition of the benefits of customization.

1. Can I craft a cookie for special dietary goals? Of course! You Cookie is the latest completely customizable product from You Bar. We've been letting customers choose their own ingredients for nutrition bars, protein shakes, and trail mix since 2006. For help crafting a cookie suitable to a certain diet - from low calorie to high protein -- go to our Craft-A-Cookie page and click on "First Time Crafting a Cookie?" and "Special Dietary Goals?" We can make cookies for everyone: diabetics, vegans, people with gluten sensitivities and even people on weight-loss diets!
2. How do I store my cookies and how long will they be fresh? We recommend storing them at room temperature (approximately 65°-75° F) in the cookie tin. If you don't plan on eating them within a week (this never happens to us!), we recommend that you freeze them in the cookie tin they come in. They can be frozen up to 3 months. Defrost at room temperature in the tin, or defrost/reheat an unwrapped cookie placed on a microwave-safe plate and covered with a paper towel in the microwave for approximately 10-15 seconds.

3. Can I reheat my cookies? Yes, for that lovely just-baked cookie smell and taste, you can reheat your cookies.  Just unwrap one or two cookies and place on a microwave-safe plate covered by a paper towel.  Microwave for approximately 10-15 seconds.

6. How Many Cookies are in a Tin? There are twelve standard size 1 oz. (approx. 30 gram) cookies per tin.
7. Are Popular Cookies also individually wrapped? Popular and Customized cookies are individually wrapped within the tin at no additional cost. This is a handy for people who like to pack cookies in purses, pockets and backpacks.
8. How do the nutrition facts, ingredient list and allergy information appear on You Cookie packages? The ingredient list, nutrition facts and allergy information appear at the bottom of the cookie tin while the label on top of the cookie tin gives the name of your customized cookie. Individual cookies are not labeled, even if you choose the option for individually wrapping your cookies within the tin. Note that the nutrition facts label on the bottom of your reusable tin will also have a re-order number to make it easy to order your yummy recipe again.
